HAIL THE NEW PALESTINE?

"Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe, Philistia, triumph thou because of me" Psalm 60:8)

The Lord knows which kingdoms are going to give the most problem near the end of the age and they are listed above.

It should be noted that each of these are Muslim and they certainly are allied against the people of Israel in this present age. The nations that surround Israel will soon ally themselves together in an attempt to defeat Israel. According to Revelation and Daniel, they will succeed by defeating Israel and subjecting the city of Jerusalem to 42 months of forced rule.

"For I will gather all nations aping Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity" (Zech. 14:2).

"And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies then know that the desolation thereof is nigh" (Luke 2 1: 20).

"And the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months" (Rev. 1:2).

As most are aware, I have taught since the early '80's that ancient Philistia will play a vital role during the tribulation era near the end of this present age. It is one of the nations named in Psalm 93. However, Philistia has not been an independent nation since the Old Testament era.

Yasser Arafat musts that Jerusalem will be the new capital of the Palestinian State.

The Bible tells us that Jerusalem will become a "cup of trembling" just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. With Yasser Ararat's recent declaration that he will, if Israel doesn't revive the dead Oslo Accords, declare a "State of Palestine' on May 4,1999. The hour of decision is soon approaching.

Of course, Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel has warned that such a declaration could lead to all out war in the Middle East.

Will each of then possibilities occur as suggested? Only time will tell but if so, this may ignite the "big one," the final thrust for Jerusalem and the beginning of the 42-month period of -great tribulation"

MAY 4,1999?

The following article is from my local newspaper The News Topic /Lenoir, NC - Sun, Sept 2 7, '98. (I quote)

GAZA CITY Gaza Strip - There's no such place as Palestine.

Legally and diplomatically, it doesn't exist. In the eyes of the world, if not the Palestinian people, it's a would-be country, a state of mind a nation in waiting.

Now, Yasser Arafat says that wait is nearly over.

In a speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Monday, the Palestinian leader is poised to make his boldest bid yet to turn statehood dreams to reality a scant seven mouths from now.

For many Palestinians - furious about stalled, peace negotiations with Israel and desperate over their ever-worsening economic plight - even a perilous step like this is better than leaving matters as they stand.

Arafat has said for months that barring some negotiating break-through, the Palestinians were likely to proclaim statehood as soon as the interim Oslo peace accords expire - on May 4, 1999, according to the Palestinian interpretation.

Even if what he says on Monday doesn't differ greatly from previous Palestinian statements, the setting dramatically raises the Oakes.

Until now, such talk largely has been viewed here as a Palestinian bargaining tactic, meant to prod Israel into Moving ahead with long-delayed amp pullbacks.

But a direct appeal by Arafat for international support for an independent Palestine - delivered from center stage at the United Nations - carries far mom symbolic weight

And it comes only four days after Israeli Prime Minister

Benjamin Netanyahu used his own appearance before the world body to deliver a blunt warning to the Palestinians: Don't do it

'Such actions will inevitably prompt unilateral responses on our part," Netanyahu said Thursday.

Israel hasn't said publicly what its reaction would be, but possible steps include annexation of West Bank and Gaza Strip land still under As control, plus an economic boycott of the fledgling state

There is also considerable risk of violent confrontation. The military establishments of both sides - in veiled but unmistakable language - have acknowledged they are preparing for the possibility of all-out warfare.

The Palestinians know they are hopelessly outgunned but take every opportunity to remind Israel that an impassioned popular uprising can stand up to overwhelming military superiority. The intefadeh they say, proved that.

"We will fight to defend our state and existence by all means available,', Palestinian intelligence chief Amin el-Hindi said last week.

Despite the dangers, the looming showdown already could be helping to break the long deadlock in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

it may be no coincidence that the only real movement in months comes as the Palestinians aggressively press their statehood cause: Netanyahu on Friday formally confirmed for the first time he was ready to accept a U.S. proposal for Israel to withdraw from an additional 13 percent of the West Bank.,

Both sides have reasons for wanting to abandon the Oslo accords, and the statehood quarrel could provide a pretext for that.

Netanyahu has only grudgingly accepted the commitment to the Oslo accords made by Prime Minister Yitzhak Robin, and the Palestinians have all but given up hope it can further their cause. (End quote).

MILLENNIUM BUG

The following article is taken from the Moneychanger, June 4, 1997. (I quote).

"By December 31, 1999 I want to have my mortgage paid off. I am canceling all my credit cards, and closing all bank accounts. Then I am going to have my telephone disconnected, The Pentagon has already admitted the American military will fail. you have to disconnect yourself from anything computer dependent.'

"He was dead serious. He expects the Y2K to disrupt if not completely cripple all aspects of American life: government, communications, finance, banking, every aspect of your daily life. No one will escape. Just let your mind wander over the social disorder.

"...The Year 2000 Problem is quite real and the worst of it is, none of the experts downplay it, but all admit that it fundamentally challenges the entire structure of American life.

"WHAT IS IT?: In the early days of computers, programmers saved storage space by reducing the number of digits, dropping the '19' in the year. Everybody knows what century it is anyway.

"Everybody except computers. Now the millennium is about to roll over, and when the date '00' comes up, the computer is buffaloed. It reads the date as '1900', or rolls back to 1984, or wipes out your data, or simply goes catatonic: Can you imagine your phone bill for a long distance call you began on December 31, 1999 at 11:55 p.m. and ended at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2000? Will the computer read it as 100 years long?

"And there's no easy fix for thousands of programs. The only solution is to work through huge mainframe programs line by line, correcting the dates. And after millions of lines of code have been read and fixed, then you have to test it all to see if it works. And then work out the bugs. And test it again.

"To fix the problem will cost billions worldwide..."

"CHECK THE RESEARCH: Check it out for yourself. If you don't have a computer with access to the Internet trip down to your local library and ask the research librarian to help you find articles in professional computer magazines. On the Internet, search 'year 2000 problem,' and see what pops up When I did, I found 43,460 relevant documents.

"Here's just a sample to taste the depth of the problem. According to a page of the CNN web site dated 4/11/97, reprogramming computers in Britain to prevent the Y2K problem will cost $50 billion, according to a government body set up to tackle the problem. The estimate is about three times those of business consultants and computing services company. Robin Guenier, head of proportion of Britain's 4 million companies likely to be affected and the known number of staff engaged exclusively on the problem. He said British companies will need to assign 300,000 staff to Y2K - roughly all of the full-time computer professionals in the whole country.

"WHAT'S AT RISK?: Close your eyes and let your mind wander over all the places where computers have wormed their way into our daily lives. To stimulate your imagination, here's a partial list:

  • Railroads and truck Iines (that deliver your food to the grocery store)
  • Electric power grids
  • Water systems
  • Air traffic control
  • Oil & natural gas pipelines
  • Bank & payment systems of every type
  • Credit cards
  • ATMs
  • Medicare & Medicaid
  • Payroll systems
  • Insurance Companies
  • Stock, bond, & commodity markets
  • Pension funds & programs
  • Stores & supermarkets
  • Telephone systems
  • Federal government agencies
  • State government agencies
  • Local government agencies
  • Police
  • US Department of Defense

"IT'S NO JOKE: Make no mistake, the Millennium Bug is a genuine threat, Mulling it over for the last two months I was surprised to see the June 2, 1997 Newsweek magazine arrive with a cover screaming 'THE DAY THE WORLD CRASHES - Can We Fix the 2000 Computer Bug Before it's Too Late?

"The seven page article is a strange mixture of fatalism, bravado, and terrifying truth. One sentence tells it all: '(S)till there will almost certainly be severe dislocations because of the mindboggling enormity of the problem.'

"Left out of this equation is the change in American mentality and manners in the last 65 years. During the Depression the self-reliant American people sucked up their guts, drew in their breath, and did whatever was necessary to survive. Today, about 70,000,000 Americans receive government checks every month. Can you imagine them moving in with each other and growing collards to survive? When you drive to work tomorrow, watch people's manners. How do you think they will act when the grocery stores run out of food, the ATMs won't be singing Happy Days Are Here Again, I promise.

"There is a taste of satisfying irony hem. America, which idolizes technology, is about to see its idol Technology fail, and all because of two measly digits. Dagin is about to fall flat on his face before the Ark (see I Samuel 5: 1-5). (End quote)

Much is being printed about the "Y2K" problem. This is only one of the numerous articles I have read or received. Thanks. Some say that the problem "I occur prior to die year 2000 because many nations go on the fiscal year 2000 as early as April and some June of 1999. What is ahead and how will this play into the role of Bible prophecy is uncertain.

What is certain is that today is the day of Salvation and God is about to bring this present society, as we know it to a screeching halt. He will replace it with a Godly one that will last eternally.

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh? (Luke 21:28).

I truly appreciate your prayers and support for this ministry. May God continue to help us to spread the word.
